Investment Property Sales in South East Asia
An industry editor has said that overseas property investors looking at the south-east Asian market should be mindful of political as well as economic realities.
Paul Collins, overseas property editor at BuyAssociation, has said that Singapore and Thailand have economies based on differing industries yet both attract considerable investor interest.
However, with the political strife seen in Thailand over the past few years has come a certain slowdown in the investment industry, he added.
"Thailand is different from Malaysia and from Singapore as well, in the fact that it tends to be more tourist-based, and more beach tourist-based than the other places," Mr Collins outlined.
"From the point of view of economies and political regimes, there are still things to consider. For example, Singapore is quite a stable area in terms of economic growth – it's not based on one particular industry.
"There are those things that people have to consider when they're buying overseas as well – they need to keep an eye on political processes," Mr Collins added.
